svaind.gif - 30328 Bytes Within the pages of this magazine we would like to impart the necessary knowledge as to what constitutes a good safe car in the eyes of the Ministry Inspectors. To that end we have reproduced the actual test requirements for kit cars. These are heavy reading, so we have also reproduced several accounts of cars which have actually been through the test so that you can see by example the kinds of things which have to be done to ensure a pass.
As you will read we have included examples of everything from traditional cabriolets to tremendous Cobras. Including replicas of Sevens, of Porsches and of old Jaguars. We are certain that you will agree that if this selection of vehicles can be made to pass the SVA test then almost anything, built with an eye to the regulations, will sail through.
When purchasing a kit car we advise you to check that its basic design in respect of light positions and seat belts is correct. Most other details can be attended to in the process of building by a combination of a careful selection of parts, the addition of protective edge trims or by the sensible positioning of parts. So don't panic, keep your eye on the rule book and enjoy the successful building of your kit car.
