Ford will release a new cross-border electric vehicle for European market. Recently, spy photos of a test vehicle were released for first time, and company is currently conducting winter testing. The new car will also use Volkswagen MEB platform. As two companies reached a strategic partnership in 2019, Ford will also have more models based on MEB platform, and this is first model to come out.

Ford ran a subtle camouflage on test car, and bodywork also has full coverage. Judging by outlines, there is no shadow at all from Volkswagen model, and boxy shape would appear stiffer. The shape of front end is also a hard straight line favored by Ford models, a bit like Martial Horse Sport in overseas markets, and as an electric car, a closed air intake grille is expected, and light group will also be an LED light source.

The side is of standard SUV proportion, windshield angle is of a large slope, but rear is of a vertical design, and door handle will also be a hidden type, commonly used in electric vehicles. The test rim uses a relatively simple steel rim, I personally like this low-profile style more, which looks quite European, on other hand, it also shows future size of rim, and visual effect is relatively complete.

The amount of information in tail is also very small, and light unit has a strong camouflage, it is not yet possible to judge whether a through-type design will be used. It can fully match MEB model in terms of performance. The maximum power of twin-engine model is 299 horsepower, and WLTP range is expected to be 500 km.

Overview

There is currently no concrete news about release of this model, and even name is not determined at this stage, but there is news that more information about new car will be received as early as next month. Judging by current progress, it will not appear on European market until end of 2023, with listing plans in other markets coming later. In domestic market, there is no news that this vehicle will be introduced at present. From market point of view, new vehicle will be a strong underpinning for Ford in domestic electric vehicle sector. The only electric horse currently available is obviously difficult to maintain layout of new energy models , or Such more practical models will change Ford's current passive situation in domestic electric vehicles.
