It is reported that Toyota Century SUV will be introduced during this year. Previously, there were many rumors about this SUV, but they were not confirmed. According to foreign media reports, this top Toyota SUV will be positioned as a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and it is possible that it will have a body design like a Rolls-Royce, which will make it look more dignified.

Mechanically, however, it is very different from current Century. It will be built on Highlander platform, which means new Century SUV will likely use a transverse engine and hybrid system. In terms of construction, it seems to be inferior to car of last century. It is, after all, a purely rear-wheel drive luxury car powered by a V12 engine, but front-wheel drive platform makes better use of space.

Looking back at Toyota Century, 2018 model still looks timeless five years later, thanks in large part to its already traditional design. The latest generation of Toyota Century uses same design strategy as 911, retaining essence of model's traditional design and adding more modern touches. Century also copes with task perfectly. You can find taste of the last century in it, but there will be no traces of antiquity. After all, tradition and old age are different concepts.

It's same with interior. Beneath classic layout is advanced electronic equipment. Not only does it have latest car automatic, but instrument panel has become a semi-LCD instrument cluster.

The back row, of course, is focus of century. The multimedia system appears not for first time in this century. We can say that since 1990s, lack of a back row has practically not been. Only technology behind screen has evolved.

In terms of power, Toyota Century used to be powered by Japan's only V12 engine, but a 5.0L machine can only produce 276 horsepower. The current model is equipped with a V8 hybrid system, which has a maximum output of 425 horsepower. Of course, smoothness of ride provided by hybrid system is more important.

Overview

At this stage, there is very little information about Toyota Century SUV. Based on Highlander platform, it's not very advanced, but at least it provides new features. Another thing that makes people curious is whether Toyota is considering introducing Century SUV to other markets. Personally, I think this possibility still exists. Century after century.
