Kit Car Guide (2008/9 Revised - 25th Edition)

Our serialised listing of kit cars and products is an ongoing process. With new kits arriving, others falling by the wayside, plus specification and address changes; it’s a mammoth but rewarding undertaking to keep our AtoZ Guide up-to-date.

Having said that, this 25th edition is just that - an update rather than a complete re-write of the last edition.

There are, in total, about 210 kit and specialist sports cars listed. Our process is to list all the kits alphabetically as a part-work appearing in Kit Car magazine. Then, when we've collated the whole set, we bind them seperately into to this massive directory. These particular entries were put together in 2008 to form this massive, 450 page Kit Car Guide for 2008/9.

It’s the reference for everybody whose into kit cars; containing all the vital information on each model. Not only that, but it includes advertising from nearly every industry supplier. It therefore contains not just kit details but also those of nearly every service, part and accessory supplier in the business!

Guide Format

We’ve departed from conventions of previous years. For example, it used to be the norm for a kit to be based on a single donor car, but these days the majority of kits require mechanical parts from diverse sources. It’s therefore simply not possible to specify the ‘donor’ car.

Costs of building have become ever more complex to express too; on account of manufacturer’s offering choice of components and levels of mechanical work already completed. These choices lead to massive variations in cost.

So, our new guide contains more verbiage about each vehicle under headings like Background, Impressions, Engineering and What Does it Cost?

In some cases we’ve included full product feature reprints to fully explain what’s what.

The guide’s primary purpose is to whet appetites and direct customers towards manufacturers. To that end we’ve included all the usual contact details.
